Weekend Workshops

 

  BASICS OF INTERIOR DESIGN WITH OLGA MOSINA

 

 

 Saturday, March  6th, 2:00 – 5:00 pm

 Are you having difficulty in getting your living room furniture arranged so the room flows?  What about achieving the warmth you want with color and texture?  Then you will want to participate in this workshop.  Participants will go over basic architectural styles of interiors, floor plans, furniture layouts, color and texture coordination, and lighting.  Bring with you a floor plan and/or dimensions and, with Olga’s expertise, begin designing your living room or any other room just the way you want it to look and feel.

   INTRODUCTION TO INDESIGN AND PHOTOSHOP WITH CHAD HOLLAND

 Saturday, March 13th, 10:00 to 11:30 am
Graphic Layout
using InDesign & PhotoShop.   Introduction with Chad Holland . Mr. Holland worked as a publisher so he is very knowledgeable about print design layouts for ads, postcards, brochures etc. If you have a laptop with either of these programs, please bring it along.   MOSAIC STAINED GLASS WORKSHOP WITH DEBBIE DONATHAN

Mosaic Workshop is a very popular workshop.   These workshops fill up quickly.  Participants are already reserving their seat for March.  Stop by ArtWorks and reserve your seat.   Mosaic is a two-day workshop.  March’s workshop is schedule for:

  BASIC JAPANESE BOOKBINDINGWITH CELIA PHILLIPS

 Friday, March 19, 2010, 7:00 – 9:00 pm

 Participants will create a side-sewn hard-cover book using the techniques of traditional Japanese bookbinding.  If you can sew on a button you can sew this basic book.  It’s so easy a caveman can do it. Makes a wonderful personal journal or sketch book.

 "Art Date"  WITH KIMBERLY PURCELL AND LYDIA ELLIS

 Friday, March  26, 7:00 – 10:00 pm

 Bring your favorite beverage (whatever gets the creative juices flowing) and paint a picture along with Kimberly Purcell and Lydia Ellis as they show you step by step how to paint a beautiful masterpiece. All supplies include. Perfect fun evening for Girls Night Out, Date Night, Mom and Daughter outing, Bachelorette party, you name it! FUN, FUN, FUN! Best part of the evening, not only do you have a great time learning how to paint but you will leave at the end of the evening, with your very own masterpiece to hang on your wall when you get home!

  SATURDAY PAINTING CLASS WITH KATHALEEN BREWER

 Saturday, March 27, 2010
Adults:   10:00 – 12:00 pm;   Youth:    1:00 – 2:00 pm ; Teens:    3:00 – 4:30 pm
Kathaleen works on an individual basis introducing different mediums.  Some days she may have participants use oil, others acrylic or pastel.  All skill levels accepted.  Fee: $35.00 per person per class.  Includes materials.

 PAINTING CLASS:  OIL & ACRYLIC & PASTEL WITH KATHALEEN BREWER

 Tuesday morning:   10:00-12:00;   Wednesday evening:  6:30-8:30 PM
Classes are ONGOING CLASSES with no start-stop date as Kathaleen works on an individual basis with each student depending on their level and interest. Beginners welcome!! These classes cover the fundamental basics and techniques of painting, including discussion about brushes, canvases and mediums. You will also learn the basics of composition, color and placing images on paper plus shading and light. 
Class size is 4-6 students. $35.00 drop-in fee if taking one class at a time. $100/4 classes, plus $20 material fee if you don't have your own supplies.

 

 

 

 

 

HOMESCHOOL CHILDRENS' ART

 Ages 6 – 9; Wednesday: Every other Week, 9:45 - 11:15 am

 Classes will begin Wednesday, March 3rd. You can sign up for the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month, OR the 2nd/4th Wednesday. (Every other week.) Class size is limited to just 8 students, so sign up quickly. Will include art history, intro to still life drawing, watercolors, and painting. All materials are provided. One-time registration fee is $20 for 1st child, $10 for siblings. Cost is $32/month.   INTRODUCTION TO PHOTOGRAPHY WITH CHAD HOLLAND

 First Session:  March 2nd & 9th;     Second Session:  March 16th and 23rd;   Tuesday nights 6:00-8:00 pm.

 Learn the basic elements of photography using a digital camera (SLR preferred). Understand what your camera is capable of doing regarding light and exposure. Also learn the basic rules of composition and how to use studio and natural light.  Limit of 10 students. Learn how to edit your pictures, apply filters, layering, and enhance your work.  Students must have a laptop with either Photoshop Elements or Photoshop
Fee:  $80.00

  MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL  STUDENTS - ART CLASSES WITH JASON ZAMPOL
Thursday:   after school 4:30-6:00 pm.
Jason has a Master's Degree in Fine Art and works as an illustrator for movies and video games.  He will be teaching drawing, composition, use of color and watercolor, as well as how to use a Digital Drawing board with Photo Shop & Corel Paint. If students have a laptop and either of these programs, they should bring it to learn hands-on.  Jason is providing the digital drawing boards. 
$20 drop-in or $70 per child for a month

ELEMENTARY YOUTH - HIGH SCHOOL ART CLASSES WITH KATHALEEN BREWER

Thursdays  4:30-6:00 pm

 

Ms. Brewer works with only 6 kids at a time and leads them forward through drawing into painting in acrylic and oil.

She tries to maintain their personal styles and view points.

 

 

 

   WATERCOLOR PAINTING WITH JUDY HUANG
Tuesday:   2:00 - 4:00 pm; This class runs from the 15th to the 15th
This class is suitable for beginners and intermediate painters.  Learn methods for washes, layering, preserving white areas, glazing, lifting color, masking, using resists, negative painting and creating textural effects - including sprinkling, spattering, stencils, pouring, and stamping.  Students are encouraged to expand their repertoire and exchange their experiences with each other.  Register by email to Director Kathaleenbrewer@comcast.net or call ArtWorks, 678-545-0275.

  DRAWING CLASS WITH JUDY HUANG
Tuesday:  1:00 - 2:00 pm-
Learn to draw what you see using charcoal, graphite and pencils. Fee: $60.00 - 4 classes

COMIC STORY LABORATORY WITH ED McKEOGH
Wednesday afternoon:   4:30 - 6:00 pm; Saturday morning:  10:30 - 12:00 pm
Are you curious - or CRAZY! - About comics? Are you perplexed by panel placement, pacing and perspective?  Do you want to create your own comic strip or comic book?  Then join Ed, Studio E, for the Comic Story Laboratory. He will share tips and techniques for starting a story, developing a dynamic character, and establishing an engaging environment. While assembling your own 8-page mini-comic to share with family and friends. You will also learn what make the comic book medium unique among the entertainment media.
Supplies:  One (1) pack of blank index cards, pencils, eraser(s), markers or any other drawing tool(s), sketch pad, and your imagination.
Fee:  4 classes - $100.00

 

 

 INTRODUCTION TO ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN WITH JEREMY SOMMER

 Have you ever wanted to design your own tree house?  Did you know it takes both art and science to design a tree house or any other structure?   If the combination of art and science is appealing, then Architectural Design is the class for you.  Students will be introduced to:  1. The art and science of designing buildings and other physical structures, and 2.
