Studio E - Ed McKeogh

EdMcKeogh.jpgEd McKeogh has made art ever since he held his first crayon. He grew up watching cartoons, B-movies, the “Three Stooges” and “Star Trek” and reading newspaper comic strips, fantasy novels and comic books. All those disparate elements soaked into his bones, fueled his imagination and ignited his passion for storytelling.

With his art, Ed playfully strives to inform, entertain and inspire. He adjusts his style to meet the demands of a wide range of projects, including:

• Portraits
• Comic Books
• Cartoons
• T-shirt Designs
• CD Covers Logos
• Even Tattoos!

His work reflects both his attention to detail and his ability to capture and convey expression. And it always tells a story. He contributed work to the Philadelphia Cartoonist Society’s first two comic book anthologies, its Watchmen tribute and its charitable efforts on behalf of the Children’s Crisis Treatment Center. In 2007, Ed took 3rd place in the online, international comic book contest, Small Press Idol, with a 12-page, retro-superhero comic: Translucent.

In 2006, Ed expanded his freelance illustration and graphic arts services, using electronic tools to both produce images and enhance hand-drawn art. He’s worked for such clients as All the Kings Men Toy Soldiers (a wargames miniatures company), Fighting Elk Enterprises (cutting-edge technical and design consultants) and Gallopade International (an educational materials publisher).

He has taught guest “character design” art seminars for local schools and conducted a “Comic Story Laboratory” at the Fayette County Library. Now, he offers cartooning and comic book classes through ArtWorks on the Square.

If he isn’t working on your commission (or driving a school bus), he’s probably drawing something fun that he hopes will appeal to kids of any age.

For more information on classes offered, please call 678-545-0275 or drop by ArtWorks on the Square at 107 Stonewall Ave., Fayetteville, Ga. 30214.  ArtWorks is located on the historic Courthouse Square where Hwy. 54 and Hwy 85 intersect.
